  • 10 years of continuous, documented legal residence
  • Sufficient and continuous income across the qualifying period
  • No criminal record, in Italy or your country of origin
  • Italian language certification (B1 level)
  • Processing time: typically 2–4 years once filed

By Marriage

Married to an Italian citizen

  • 2 years of marriage while residing in Italy (3 years if residing abroad)
  • Timelines are halved if you have children together
  • No criminal record, in Italy or your country of origin
  • Italian language certification (B1 level)
  • Processing time: typically 2–3 years once filed
